In some cases of the Left Hand Path (of Return) there is atheism. Atheism means not having a god (therefore idol / representation) to worship. It does not mean not believing in something beyond the 5 senses of the 5 elements therefore void of egoism. A more accurate word for he who does not believe in anything beyond the senses is infidel . Anyway even theists believe he is some separate individual (usually hovering somewhere "up" there in heaven), which makes them infidels, too. In other words... they all believe in the same Thing, but personalize Him differently - as per culture - therefore fight anyway. However, faith in the higher power of the elements definitely helps - although should succeed lack of desire for life (detachment) and therefore aspiration, and should definitely not be an attachment or social norm or even chore or habit - because what matters most is detachment from worldliness including to your method or religion or...
