Hunger is the greatest spiritual practise of all, for the greatest blessing (pain) comes without doing anything! Aside from that, there are still many physical and mental advantages, so read on! Yes, fasting is very beneficial mentally & physically, aside from spiritually. When we eat a high carbohydrate meal we get a very high insulin spike, which takes 8-10 hours to come down. High protein (especially meat) also takes up to 3 days to break down producing a lot of disruptive acids & fats harming respiration, arteries, & joints (check "euric acid"). All foods do however contain carbohydrates, even high protein vegetable based ones. From my experience having a bad diet is WORSE in terms of energy levels than fasting itself. Yes I felt more energy dips (and high blood pressure due to body's higher perspiration rate to rid of toxins, aside from nasty acid reflux feelings) when on an acidic diet (lots of processed foods especially containing added sugar) than wat...
